LifeSense Institute and "Project
Solar Harvest" visit
Island Earthfair
2006 (Paradise Ridge Park, Vashon Island, WA)
Principals of solar energy collection
for peak as well as year-round retrieval will be demonstrated by LifeSense
Institute at Island Earth Fair August 4th, 5th, and 6th. Project
Solar Harvest received its first seed grant from Sustainable Vashon
and
the Earthfair demonstration is receiving other local support as well.
It will be the first exhibition on Vashon of a particular approach to solar
heating that has shown success at several northern latitude installations,
including Alberta, Canada; Japan; Scandinavia and other northern European
sites. They will also show a variety of other optical solar technologies.
LifeSense anticipates sponsoring a
pilot community on Vashon featuring a “neighborhood grid” for residential
space and water heating. The neighborhood grid can also be used for
solar-heated greenhouses supporting sustainable aquatic and terrestrial
life.
LifeSense Institute, a nonprofit
corporation on Vashon-Maury Island, was recently launched by Robert Bornn
and Laura Worth. Please contact Robert and Laura at 463-9283, visit

Benefit for LifeSense Institute
and "Project Solar Harvest"
SoundMoments Duo and other guest
performers will present acoustic improvisations, both lively and evocative
-- for listening, participating, and dancing. It's melody and rhythm
in a unique blend of world beat and lyrical sound.
Robert Bornn and Laura Worth have
recently launched LifeSense Institute, a nonprofit corporation
on VMI. Initially LSI will undertake two projects. The
first, Vashon Energy Project's "Project Solar Harvest" received
its first seed grant from Sustainable Vashon last week. Project
Solar Harvest is an educational demonstration of a system for Passive
Annual Solar Underground Heat Storage. The second, BuildingCircles
Project is facilitating ultra-green, affordable co-housing to promote
independent living for older adults. Donations before the benefit are also
greatly appreciated.
